About Dr. Edgar
Dr. Ken Edgar, DC, Dipl.Med.Acup (IAMA)
Following my high school graduation at the age of seventeen in 1974, I embarked on a transformative journey by immersing myself in the practices of Kundalini yoga, the yoga of awareness, within a yoga ashram. This period was characterized by rigorous daily sessions of 2 ½ hours devoted to Kundalini yoga and meditation, complemented by the acquisition of massage techniques and Asian yogic bodywork. Concurrently, I assumed the role of instructor, sharing my knowledge of yoga and meditation with others.
Subsequently, I pursued higher education at Cal State LA, focusing on pre-med, biology, and cell physiology/genetics.
In 1989, I graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude, from Cleveland Chiropractic College- Los Angeles, earning both a Bachelor's degree in Human Biology and a Doctorate in Chiropractic. This milestone marked the commencement of my professional career, as I established my inaugural practice in Malibu, California, collaborating with the Malibu Gym. Here, I collaborated closely with athletes across various levels of proficiency, including elite and professional tiers, as well as individuals within the entertainment industry. My treatment methodology evolved to incorporate biomechanical analysis, Chiropractic adjustments, myofascial release, and Kundalini yoga, with a focus not only on alleviating pain but also on fostering strength, flexibility, and coordination for enhanced bodily comfort and mental tranquility.
Continuing my pursuit of knowledge, I engaged in coursework under Dr. Jeffrey Bland, a pioneer in functional medicine, subsequently contributing to the development of my treatment paradigm through the integration of biochemistry, diet, and nutrition with Chiropractic care.
Building upon this foundation, I pursued additional expertise in acupuncture, undertaking a postgraduate course accredited by the New York College of Chiropractic through the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture in 1996-97. This expanded repertoire enabled me to offer comprehensive treatment modalities encompassing biomechanical analysis, myofascial release, Kundalini yoga, nutrition informed by biochemistry, and acupuncture.
Further augmenting my skill set, I attained certification in Dr. Brimhall's "6 Steps to Wellness" methodology, enhancing the scope and efficacy of my therapeutic interventions.
In 2000, I had the privilege of encountering Chhoje Rinpoche, a revered Tibetan meditation master, who graciously accepted me as a student and imparted invaluable teachings on meditation and mindfulness. Since then, I have commenced each day with a renewed commitment to meditation and mindfulness, recognizing their profound impact on my ability to empathetically discern and address the unique needs of my patients.
For the last 25 years, I have been practicing in Montrose, Colorado. I have had the privilege of serving a diverse and dynamic community through my chiropractic and integrative care practice. The natural beauty and outdoor culture of the region have attracted a unique patient population—ranging from climbers, back-country guides, and bodybuilders to children and families—who seek out my expertise for both performance optimization and holistic wellness. My long-standing presence in Colorado has allowed me to build enduring relationships with patients across generations, offering individualized care that supports a wide range of physical demands and lifestyles.
Treatment Approach
Spinal & Biomechanical Assessment
The foundation of chiropractic care is the detection and correction of vertebral misalignments (subluxations) that can disrupt autonomic nerve function. During your in-home chiropractic adjustment in Cherry Creek, I assess spinal biomechanics to identify areas where vertebrae may be affecting nervous system communication—often linked to dysfunction in organs or chronic pain.
Joint Mobility Evaluation & Synovial Health
Next, I assess all major synovial joints—the movable joints throughout the body—for restrictions or fixation ("rusted shut" joints). These restrictions can prevent the natural flow of synovial fluid, which is essential for lubricating joints and nourishing cartilage. Without proper movement, degeneration can occur. Mobile chiropractic and myofascial release sessions in Denver help restore fluid motion and prevent long-term joint deterioration.
Soft Tissue & Fascial Line Work
I evaluate lines of tension in the fascia and soft tissue, especially those impacted by scar tissue or chronic contraction. These restrictions often correlate with underlying joint dysfunction. My release work integrates principles of structural integration and myofascial therapy to unwind these holding patterns, enhance mobility, and relieve pain. This service is often combined with mobile assisted stretching sessions in 80206 and surrounding areas.
Energetic Channel & Acupuncture Point Assessment
Simultaneously, I assess energy flow through the body’s meridians and energy centers. This helps guide personalized acupuncture treatments to restore balance, reduce inflammation, and support internal organ health. Whether you're seeking acupuncture for stress, pain, or digestive issues, my mobile acupuncture treatments in Cherry Creek are tailored to your body’s energetic needs.
Yoga Therapy Integration
For clients who practice yoga, I can incorporate chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue work directly into asana practice. Evaluating joint function and fascial lines while you’re in specific poses allows for deeper therapeutic benefit and a more integrated approach to mobility and healing. This service is ideal for yoga practitioners in 80209 looking for functional support.
Functional Nutrition & Supplement Consultation
With over 35 years of post-graduate education in functional medicine, including coursework in biochemistry, physiology, and clinical nutrition, I also offer personalized nutrition and supplement advising. During in-home sessions, I provide guidance on dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, and targeted supplement protocols to support your long-term health goals.
